What is BMS?

Bachelor of Management Studies also known as BMS is a management course for undergraduates with a duration of three years. The course allows the students to gain the skills for a better understanding of the working structure of organizations. It throws light on how an organization work, how they deal with their customers, how they are managed and many such things. The amalgamation of Classroom lectures and practical knowledge is a must for this course and this is being followed by the universities currently. BMS provides an ample amount of knowledge to the students about new business techniques, tackling real-world challenges. It teaches ways to help an organization expand and manage their business.

Eligibility:

Students need to fulfil the following criteria to apply for the course:

  • A student has completed their 10+2 qualification from a recognized board with specialization in any field of arts, commerce or science. Though many colleges give first preference to the students with 10+2 qualification in commerce stream.
  • Minimum aggregate of 50% (for general category) and 45% (for SC/ST category) is a must at 10+2 level. This may vary from college to college.
  •  Many universities have also put an age limit which is 22 years (for general category) and 24years (for SC/ST category).

Please keep one thing in mind that some reputed institutes also conduct their own entrance tests for offering admission in BMS course. Hence students are needed to clear the cut-off mark of that entrance test set in accordance with the university.

Syllabus:

BMS course is built to teach various analytical, logical and managerial skills in the students. Many of the subjects in BMS are common with other courses like BBA but still, BMS possess more importance. The academic course of BMS is divided into six semesters. Some of the subjects covered under this course are Foundation of Human Skill, Managerial Economics, Business Environment, Marketing Research, Effective Communication and many more.

Scope:

BMS course covered so many areas be it Marketing, Finance, HR, and many more. This is the reason that after completion of BMS students can go for jobs in government as well as private sectors. Students are offered various roles such as Business Development Manager, Finance Specialist etc. Students can also opt for a Master’s Degree after finishing the bachelor degree. BMS teaches a lot about how to run a venture hence students having their own idea can come up with their startup.
