What Exams Should I Give for MBA in India?

The Master of Business Administration (MBA) is a degree awarded to post-graduate students. It covers numerous areas of business such as entrepreneurship, accounting, business communication, marketing, and many more.

Now multiple institutes and B-Schools offer MBA degree. But in order to achieve this degree, a student has to give CAT exam. But hold on, are you interested in giving the CAT? If not, then here’s a list of the various exams for MBA in India.

SNAP

Symbiosis National Aptitude Test is also a management entrance exam organized at a national level. The Symbiosis International University conducts the SNAP Test. SNAP test is also an objective-based test. Eligibility criteria are candidates applying for SNAP should have secured minimum 50% marks in graduation degree (45% for SC/ST candidates). SNAP test consist of four sections- General English, Quantitative Aptitude & Data Interpretation, Reasoning (each having 35 questions) and Current Affairs (having 25 questions).

It is mandatory to give SNAP exam for all the students who are only targeting to get admission in any of the 10 Symbiosis institutes in India.  

XAT

Xavier School of Management (XLRI), Jamshedpur conducts a national-level management entrance exam called the Xavier Aptitude Test. Eligibility criteria for XAT exam is that candidate registering for this must have a Bachelor’s degree of minimum three years duration. XAT test also consists of four sections- Verbal & Logical Ability, Decision Making, Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation, and General Knowledge with 100 questions in total. A major change made in XAT 2019 exam is that from now onwards, the exam will not have essay writing.

NMAT

NMAT by GMAC (Graduate Management Admission Council) is also an MBA entrance exam to prestigious management colleges such as Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies, BML Munjal University, and Ansal University. It is a computer-based test which delivers questions to the candidates randomly from a pool of questions. NMAT comprises of three sections- Language Skills, Quantitative Skills, and Logical Reasoning with 120 questions in total. There are not any specific eligibility criteria for NMAT aspirants. All they have to check is the eligibility of the MBA College where they want to apply.

NMAT possess a good horizon for future as it makes a student confident enough to be self-reliant. Another great thing is that numerous top institutes accept the NMAT score. Hence, students don’t have to give different exam for admissions.

CMAT

The National Testing Agency conducts the Common Management Admission Test, which is a computer-based national-level management entrance exam. CMAT exam is applicable to all management programmes. All the candidates applying for the CMAT exam have to take care of criteria that they must have been graduated from a recognized institute in any discipline before applying. Those students whose results of the final year will be declared before the admission procedure of the upcoming year starts are also eligible to be a part of CMAT Exam. CMAT Exam consists of four sections- Quantitative & Data Interpretation, Logical Reasoning, Language Comprehension and General Awareness with 100 questions in total.

All AICTE approved institutions for various management programs consider the CMAT score. 

So these are the details for some of the exams that a student can opt-in order to accomplish an MBA. It absolutely depends on the choice of candidate as all the exams hold great value in their own way.
