BBA is known as Bachelor of Business Administration, is an undergraduate course done in Business Management with a duration of three years. This course is more about focusing on core subjects and to be very specific it is meant for students belonging from a commerce background. Though students from other backgrounds can also pursue this course. BBA course teaches about everything related to trading and marketing for a business and hence it concentrates on basic elements of management.

Whereas on the other side of the coin BMS (also known as Bachelor of Management Studies) is meant for students belonging from a varied educational background. BMS is more leaned towards giving an analytical as well as logical perspective to the studies. It can also be said that in India, BMS is a relatively new course which is in limelight these days.

Students with the goal of taking their career ahead in management can go for any of these courses. Both the courses are more or less the same except for some differences between BBA and BMS. So to understand this first you must know that what is common in between both the courses-

  • Both the courses are of the same duration i.e. three years
  • Minimum eligibility for both is (10+2) from a recognized board.
  • In terms of future scope, MBA is the most preferred degree to be chosen after completion of bachelors.

Now let’s talk about the differences-

Difference between BBA and BMS in terms of objective

The main objective of BBA is to train the students so that they can gain knowledge of administration and implement the same into the businesses so that they run smoothly. BBA graduates have an edge and this is the reason that they are preferred more into the corporate world as compared to the BMS graduates. But the world is looking for management executives nowadays and this is the primary objective of BMS degree. The aim is to fulfill this demand of the market by creating more management professionals.

Difference in terms of the syllabus

One of the big difference between BBA and BMS is their syllabus. The syllabus designed for BBA more about leaning things practically. Their curriculum consists of projects and internships to provide students, hands-on experience. And when we talk about BMS, it is purely theoretical and therefore sometimes it lacks practical exposure.

But dear readers we will also tell you some drawbacks of choosing BMS. The first one is, in almost all the colleges there isn’t any dedicated faculty staff and it runs either by other staff or by guest faculties. Another major drawback is that there is no big status in the jobs for BMS and BBA graduates are preferred over them. But still doing BMS from top universities can compensate these drawbacks easily.

As we said that both the courses are the same with just different names and barely makes a difference. Both the courses work on a common ground to teach skills such as Good communication, a widen perspective, and decision-making. Other than this, since India is growing economically hence it has brought these courses into the trend. Therefore it is pretty clear that both the courses possess great scope. Choosing any one of them will not make you regret. So choose which one of them suits you the most.
