Few days for the exam which gonna decide the trajectory of my life, Can’t get over this tough set of quantitative questions, what if I don’t succeed, all the hard work would get flushed out in moments? What if this? What if that? These are some thoughts which generally flood our mind as the exam approaches closer and rather than being confident we become stressed as to what would happen if certain wrong happens. It is a very common problem among the students preparing for GMAT. Around 40-60 % of students come across this-GMAT stress and it directly hampers your preparation. If it lasts longer then it could even affect your performance in the exam. This article will teach you how to deal with this GMAT Stress.
This GMAT stress is good in some ways because it gives you some sense of responsibility, be disciplined and work to achieve goals otherwise we would not be focused. But too much of stress affects us emotionally, physically and in a behavioral way as well. Some of the following ways need to be adopted to deal with GMAT Stress:
Meditation
Two essential entities are mind and hard work we tend to equate both such that hard work is given more importance and we think mind will get automatically benefitted but both are independent entities and can only work if they work hand in hand so there is something we need to do for mind as well so meditation comes into picture which could help you to flush out all the negativities from your mind and make you feel more relaxed to start off fresh for the future work, just 15 minutes will be enough to rejuvenate you and work ahead full of positivity.
Exercise
Exercising your body can be a great help while you are preparing for GMAT because it releases feel-good hormones- endorphins which in no time makes you fully charged up and away from all the stress, it is like stress is getting out of your mind as you are sweating quite amazing isn’t it!!! Exercise also ensures good amount of blood flowing across the body and brain which is quite essential.
Sufficient Time and Preparation
- Many students crib about not having sufficient time for preparation which leaves them in a situation where they always think they don’t have sufficient time to crack the exams, so proper counseling and mentorship from various experts of the industry or guidance from coaching classes is required which makes them aware about what is really asked in the exam and how much time is required to prepare enough to crack this most sought exam, they will guide you how to go about but taking inputs from them and making a personalized schedule is a very good way of preparing without any type of stress provided you are being truthful to yourself and will follow it.
- Set small goals as you accomplish them you come across a positive vibe as to you are in the right direction and in the pursuit you complete your syllabus well within time.
- If certain topic blows your mind and makes you think it is enough then in that case pause for some time do a certain more easier topic complete it and then come back to the topic in this way your difficulty level of one topic won’t affect the topics which are far easier and by completing that easy topic makes you feel more confident and inch closer to your target.
- Maintain an error log in which you note your mistake so first, you understand them, then you work on them, then, at last, you win over them making you achieve a lot before the actual battle.
Sleep and Diet
Take sufficient amount of sleep which is necessary to recharge your body neither more nor less an adequate 6 hours of sleep is advisable so that you can get through your preparation without compromising with your health otherwise you’ll fall ill which will give rise to more stress.
Eat after regular intervals and inadequate proportion because eating one huge meal in one go would make you more sleepy, hence interrupting your studies, have a balanced diet having all the necessary nutrients and to your liking eat chocolate while you are studying because it helps you release stress and focus more.
At last, prepare enough so that no fear strikes you. Stay confident and be proud of yourself. Not everybody takes it as a challenge like you. and you’ll accomplish at any cost. Prepare well and be happy. Take this as a pro tip, always talk to your parents. Even small bits of conversation will make you feel good and you’ll be back on your journey to success.
Now that you’ve learned how to deal with GMAT Stress. You’re just a step away from your dream B-School.
All the Best!
