Guide on How to Build Your Application After GMAT

PUBLIC SPEAKING

Firstly, it is very important for you to have good communication or public speaking skills. No matter how much you have studied or how brilliant you are, if you fail in this aspect, your chances of selection go down drastically. Learn to have full confidence in what you say and be very firm and smart with what you say irrespective of the number of people you talk to which usually ranges from one to four or even more than 10.

Get over the phobia of public speaking if you want to have an edge over the other candidates. Also, it is extremely essential for you to practice at delivering a 30-minute presentation to summarizing it to about 1minute or lesser as well as to 10 minutes formats. If you do this you’ll be at a good benefit as it will prepare you in advance before you actually start practicing for business plan competitions, which is possibly one of the most essential parts of MBA Programmes across the country.

BEING THE LEADER OR BEING THE HEAD

No matter what situation of projects, internships or jobs you confront, never ever shy away from being the leader or the head of the project as this would ultimately add on to your leadership skills thereby you would imbibe good leadership qualities. All of this ultimately shows up during your interview rounds and would add on to your business. Learn management skills very well and apply them as frequently as possible as it will be very helpful not only in your application or work experiences; but also, in the latter run wherein you may confront larger projects which you may have to lead.

WORK EXPERIENCE

Work Experience is the next thing after your grades which will make you stand out of the crowd. Ensure that you have someone to look up to so that you have a notion as to what should be your work profile like or what your work experience should be like in order to achieve a milestone which they have ultimately set. Having a work experience of 3 or more than 3 years maximum 5 will always give an edge to your application as that accounts to more of real rather than the virtual exposure to the field of Business.

EXTRA-CURRICULAR

Never underestimate the importance of extracurricular in your Business School Applications. Remember that Business Schools are not looking for Book Worms or Nerds. You have to be smart in all aspects to get your seat in one of the top business schools. Highlight the aspects that you are good at. At the end Business School doesn’t emphasize that you have to be an overachiever in academics. You have to be good at something else apart from that say it sports, extra-curricular achievements, artwork or any such activities. You will have to prove to them that you are worthy of what you’ve asked for and extremely capable of the seat in your desired college.
