    Introduction to UPSC in Vashi

    Vashi UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) is India’s central agency which conducts exams like Civil Services Exam (CSE) to recruit candidates into top government services like IAS, IPS, IFS etc. Mumbai UPSC consist of 3 part structure level 1 is Prelims; level 2 is Mains and level 3 is Personal interview. UPSC is given by candidates to secure a job at any of the top 25 government posts.

    What is the eligibility criteria for UPSC for students in Vashi?

    The candidate should be 21 years of age and the students must hold a bachelors degree from a recognized university. Those candidates with professional/technical qualifications which are recognized by the Government as equivalent to professional/technical degrees are also eligible. The maximum age limit for UPSC is 32 years for General category students , 35 & 37 years for OBC & ST/SC respectively. A maximum of 6 attempts are allowed for a candidate of general category ,9 for OBC candidates and upto 32 years of age for ST/SC.This is the eligibility criteria for students in Vashi.

However, different stages of the IAS exam have different syllabi. The UPSC Prelims syllabus focuses on general and societal awareness which is tested by objective-type (MCQ) questions. The UPSC Mains syllabus is much more comprehensive as this stage comprises nine theory papers. The Civil services exam is conducted in three phases: Phase 1: Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination (Objective Type) Phase 2: Civil Services (Mains) Examination (Descriptive Type) Phase 3: Personal Interview (Personality Test)

    How many marks are Vashi UPSC papers?

    The Vashi UPSC prelims consist of 2 papers of 200 marks each i.e General Studies 1 and 2. The first paper is a qualifying paper where a student needs to get 35% to qualify for the second paper which is a merit ranking based paper. The UPSC mains consist of 9 papers, The first 2 papers are qualifying papers of 300 marks each where the student needs to secure 75 marks each to appear for the remaining 7 papers which are of 250 marks each i.e 1750 marks in total.and these papers are merit ranking papers The interview consist of 275 marks.
