Introduction to GATE in Vile-Parle
Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering -GATE exam is a computer-based standardized test conducted at the national level in India with the aim to examine the understanding and proficiency of various engineering and science undergraduate subjects. In the last couple of years, GATE exam also has been opened to international students from countries like Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Ethiopia and United Arab Emirates.
Who conducts the GATE exam?
GATE exam is conducted by the following institutes on behalf of National Coordination Board-GATE -
• IISc (Indian Institute of Science)
• IIT Roorkee, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras and Bombay
GATE exam includes 65 multiple choice and numerical questions over a 3-hour duration. GATE The GATE score is valid for a period of 3 years.
What is the eligibilty for the GATE exam?
-Bachelor’s degree students in Final Year of Engineering / Technology / Architecture (4 year program after 10+2) programs.
- Master’s degree students Final Year in any branch of Science / Mathematics / Statistics / Computer Applications or equivalent.
Pre-Final year students are not eligible for GATE exam and also there is no age limit for the GATE exam.
What are both marks and score released during the result ofthe GATE exam?
-Marks tells the candidates about his performance in his exam.
-GATE Score is normalized score across different sets of question papers. Example, huge number of students give the exam, Mechanical Engineering is divided in different time slots each of different sets of questions. Since the difficulty level might vary across slots, the organizing body releases GATE score which can be used to compare and rank students in different time slots.
What are the fees of GATE exam?
The fees for GATE is different for different categories:
-For Indian female, SC, ST and Physically challenged students the fees is Rs.750.
-For other Indian candidates the fees is Rs.1500.
-For International Candidates the fees is USD 50.
Where can be GATE scores used?
GATE scores can also be used in many programs such as:
-Admission in reputed Foreign Universities with good scholarships
-Fellowship programs in IIMs which are equivalent to PhD.
-Admission to NITIE.

Yes, you can apply for GATE exam in Vile-Parle but you have to choose your GATE paper carefully.
I have passed in 2019 but I have a backlog. Can I appear for GATE 2020?
Yes, you can apply for GATE 2020 in Vile-Parle by using any one semester’s marksheet of the final exam of your B.Tech. But you will have to clear your backlog by August 2020 to avail your admission in M.Tech.
I have got 50% in my B.Tech. Am I eligible for GATE exam?
Yes, you are eligible for GATE exam as there is no percentage criteria for appearing for the GATE exam. The percentage matters during the M.Tech admissions as some IIT’s ask for 60% and above.
How many times can I appear for GATE exam? Is there any age limit?

I have completed my graduation through distance learning. Can I apply for GATE exam?

What are the documents that I need to upload while applying for the GATE exam?
The documents that are required for the application of GATE exam are the Degree certificate or Provisional Certificate or Course completion certificate or membership certificate issued by institute from where you have completed your last education.
For how many GATE papers can I apply?
You can apply for only 1 GATE paper out 0f 25 papers however, you should apply for the appropriate paper which related your qualifying degree.

For Indian candidates the documents that are needed are Passport, PAN Card, Voter ID, Aadhar UID, College ID, Enrolment ID and Driving License. For International Candidates it is valid Passport/Government Issued ID/College ID/Employee ID.
