Introduction to GATE in Vashi

The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an examination that majorly tests the comprehensive understanding of various undergraduate subjects in engineering and science. GATE is conducted jointly by the Indian Institute of Science and seven Indian Institutes of Technologies at Roorkee, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Chennai (Madras) and Mumbai (Bombay) on behalf of the National Coordination Board – GATE, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD), Government of India.

What does the GATE paper consists of?

The examination will consist of totally 65 questions, bifurcated as One-mark and Two-mark questions. Out of 65 questions, 10 questions will be from General Aptitude (Verbal and Numerical ability) and 55 questions will be Technical, based on the Paper chosen. The General Aptitude section will have 5 One-mark questions and 5 Two-mark questions, accounting for about 15% of total marks. The Technical section and Engineering Mathematics section will total have 25 One-mark questions and 30 Two-mark questions, for about 85% of total marks. Rest, all the sections will have both Multiple Choice Questions or MCQs and Numerical Answer Type questions or NATs. The examination has negative marking for wrong MCQ answers.

What is GATE exam?

It is a national level exams for engineering students. The GATE exam is a gateway for admission to the various postgraduate engineering programs offered by the IITs, NITs, IIITs and other CFTIs as well as high pay PSU jobs.

Is GATE exam tough?

GATE is a tough one to crack. Every exam will be tough for you if you do not practice for it and study without focus. Toughness of any exam depends on the preparation done. Keeping the concepts right will help you in scoring high in the GATE exam in Vashi.

What is valid GATE score?

The score of GATE is valid for a period of three years. Your score is only valid when it is above or equal to the score of qualifying marks. For example - if you have 20 marks and the qualifying marks for that year are mentioned as 25, then your Gate score is not valid.

Which is tough IES OR gate?

According to students, preparing for GATE is easier than that of IES preparation. GATE has only objective type questions whereas IES has objective, subjective questions as well as a personal interview stage. Syllabus of GATE contains mainly engineering syllabus and some basic mental ability and GK.

Is Gate mandatory for M-Tech?

No. It is not mandatory for M-Tech admissions, if you have 60%. But, for selection in PSU's, 60% is compulsory. Students who have done their B-Tech program from IIIT and having pointer above 8 can join IITS for MS, M-Tech or PHD program without valid gate score.

What are benefits of GATE exam?

Advantage of a GATE Exam in Vashi is that the PSUs hiring through GATE saves a lot of their time and effort. GATE is a single exam that tests the candidates on their respective engineering discipline as well as the analytical and decision-making abilities. Students qualifying in this entrance exam have to know their subject well so that it will be easy for them to clear the exam too.
