Introduction to GATE in Vasai
GATE- Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering is an examination which opens the gateway to the booming public organizations and in the field of research. GATE is an All-India examination administered and conducted in eight zones across the country by the GATE Committee including of faculty members from IISc, Bangalore and other seven IIT’s on behalf of the National Coordinating Board, Department of Education, Ministry of Human Resources Development.
In GATE examination, candidates can apply for only one of the 25 papers. Candidates are expected to appear in a paper that will basically qualifying their degree. What is the eligibility for GATE exam?
The following student can give the GATE exam:
-Bachelor’s degree students in Final Year of Engineering / Technology / Architecture (4 year program after 10+2) programs.
- Master’s degree students Final Year in any branch of Science / Mathematics / Statistics / Computer Applications or equivalent
What does the GATE exam paper consists of?
The examination will consist of totally 65 questions, bifurcated as One-mark and Two-mark questions. Out of 65 questions, 10 questions will be from General Aptitude (Verbal and Numerical ability) and 55 questions will be Technical, based on the Paper chosen. The General Aptitude section will have 5 One-mark questions and 5 Two-mark questions, accounting for about 15% of total marks. The Technical section and Engineering Mathematics section will total have 25 One-mark questions and 30 Two-mark questions, for about 85% of total marks. Rest, all the sections will have both Multiple Choice Questions or MCQs and Numerical Answer Type questions or NATs. The examination has negative marking for wrong MCQ answers.

What is the registration process of GATE?

There is no minimum CGPA that is required to attempt GATE in Vasai. But, if you qualify and apply for admission in masters program in any institute, then you must fulfill the CGPA/percentage criteria for that institute. The minimum requirement there too is not more than 60% or CGPA 6 in any IIT.
