If you are someone who has recently gotten done with your GATE Examination or is someone who is aiming for acing the GATE Examination, then you are bound to be curious about what is the next step or what colleges should you be looking forward to after you crack this examination with the desired scores. Just to brief you a up a little if you are new to this topic then GATE is essentially a national level Post Graduation Entrance Exam which is\u00a0 conducted by IISC Bangalore and the 7 IIT\u2019s at <\/span>Chennai (also called Madras), Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Roorkee, Mumbai (also called Bombay)<\/span>. This is examination is basically conducted on behalf of the National Coordinating Board also called the (NCB)- GATE, Department of Higher Education, MHRD. You may have heard that \u201cClearing the GATE Examination is one of the most important steps especially for an engineering student.\u201d\u00a0 This is however partially true because GATE Examination is important for students belonging to the M Tech field however the exam is not just oriented towards them.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Usually after cracking GATE, Students think that they may fetch a seat in one of the IIT\u2019s. However this is not always the case. You need to be having an All India Rank under 150. However there are other colleges too that you may target however you should be targeting for the IIT\u2019s as it may be very beneficial for you in the latter run.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

However it is essential to note that you should know when to target which IIT which means you can not fetch a seat in any IIT based on any score. With the number of IIT\u2019s and also IISC and other colleges, every institution has a different cut off and thus you should know the trends with respect to the cut off\u2019s of each college you are willing to opt for. But there\u2019s nothing to worry about because we have got it all sorted for you.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Just to brief you up, we are enlisting the cut off\u2019s for various fields of IIT\u2019s in the year 2018.<\/span><\/p>\n

Also it is important to note that the cut off\u2019s do not remain the same and keep increasing or decreasing based on the competition and the toughness level of the examination.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Computer Science in the year 2018 had a cut off of 25\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Civil Engineering had a cut off of 26.90<\/span><\/p>\n

Electrical Engineering had a cut off of 29.1<\/span><\/p>\n

Mechanical Engineering had a cut off of 34.7<\/span><\/p>\n

Electronics and Communication had a cut off of 25.0<\/span><\/p>\n

Production Engineering had a cut off of 32.0<\/span><\/p>\n

Instrumentation Engineering had a cut off of 37.0<\/span><\/p>\n

Aerospace Engineering had a cut off of close to 25.0<\/span><\/p>\n

Chemical Engineering had a cut off of 37.8 <\/span><\/p>\n

Chemistry had a cut off of close to 25.3<\/span><\/p>\n

Physics had a cut off of 29.0<\/span><\/p>\n

Geology and Geophysics had a cut off of 32.5<\/span><\/p>\n

Biotechnology had a\u00a0 cut off of close to 27.8<\/span><\/p>\n

Maths had a cut off of 29.5<\/span><\/p>\n

Petroleum Engineering had a cut off of 39.9<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0Just to brief you up , If you have achieved an All India Rank within the range of 100 then applying to IISC Bangalore and also at IIT Bombay would easily fetch you a seat. However with such a good rank you can get into any desired IIT provided you do well in all the interviews and tests.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

If you have achieved a rank within the range of say All India Rank 600 you can apply to all the seven IIT\u2019s as you may not be very sure if you are going to achieve the one that you desire for considering the number of seats in the IIT\u2019s.
